How the high-water mark protects you.
Illustrative figures, for explanation only. A performance fee is charged only when your account sets a new peak — and only on the gain above the previous one.
In Q2 and Q3 the account is below its previous peak of $112,000, so no fee is charged — even though Q3 was up on Q2. A fee is only taken in Q4 when a new high-water mark is set, and only on the $8,000 above the old peak.
